Re: Moto Z2 Force Android Pie Update

Is there anyway that tmobile can honor the trade in deals from last fall, for the iphone xr or the one plus 6t?  this is awful news and the main reason i didnt made the trade in was the promise of android pie for the moto z2 force?

I wonder how many other people brick their first Android phone the first day they get it. Maybe I set a new record.

If the deal is over then no but you can wait for the next trade in deal.

That is half the fun of getting a new toy!  Soft-bricking is easy to fix though but some LG devices can be a massive pain.  I hard-bricked a V30 on purpose to save others from making that mistake.  It's one of those things where people don't believe it will happen until someone proves it, so I did!    DDarn you, LG, and your RSA keys.

That's correct, AS OF TODAY. If you'd checked either site last week (or last month, or last year) you'd know it was a change with no warning to consumers from T-Mobile or Motorola.

The problem is, this phone (Z2 Force, T-Mobile edition) was advertised and sold with two important support promises:

     -     the promise of enterprise-friendly (90 day) security updates (currently 200% late)

     -     the promise of an OS upgrade to Android 9 (Pie, currently cancelled)

Those were important features promised to me when buying, and now they're gone. I obviously wouldn't expect a return or exchange after owning one for 18 months, but I do think buyers ought either to get bill credits or some money refunded via voucher. If today's change was accurately reported when I paid for the phone, I would've skipped it and chosen another.

This was the first phone I purchased from a carrier rather than unlocked... and this news gives me good reason never to buy a flagship or locked device from this "un-carrier" again, and not to bother with Android manufacturers other than Google (or OnePlus, etc) apparently.

Thanks for the encouragement! And I’m still optimistic about this phone.

I believe I either need to find a way of getting a ROM, any ROM, to install through this version of TWRP (2.7), or to figure out how to flash the newest version of TWRP (3.3) if possible on it so that I can get LineageOS installed without the errors I’m getting.

The problem is I’m new to all of this, so I'm not really sure of everything. I posted my problem on XDA Developers but in 3 days only got 30 views and no replies. I guess this phone is old news to most people. I’ll keep googling and trying to make sense of where to go from here, and hopefully I can pull it off. But it would be nice to have someone hold my hand through this so to speak.

Hey, xzi!

The FOV feature seems pretty cool and could be handy. As of right now, that feature isn't on the radar, but I will certainly pass info along that users are wanting it added. As far as Night Shot mode goes, I don't have anything stating it'll be added to the newest update, but I'll let you know if that changes.

Hi, magenta9034761!

Welcome to our Support Community! I appreciate you making such a detailed post letting us know what you experienced. I'm glad it resolved itself after a payment, but the banner definitely included wrong info. I'll be sure to pass this along in hopes it doesn't happen again, but also to make sure others aren't experiencing it currently.

Thanks! I checked out the area and don't see anything that would raise any flags. Have you talked with Tech Support over the phone to have them look at the area? They're able to look a little closer at the area and work with our Engineers to figure out what's going on with your signal.

Then what are you asking? Not trolling but are you expecting Tmobile to honor an expired offer?

Re: Is anyone having WiFi calling issues since Pie update

Not if you are roaming and want to avoid usage charges which is why you might enable Wi-Fi calling in the first place. The issue with PIE is that even if you select Wi-Fi preferred, if the phone deems the cellular connection more stable, it will flip to cellular preferred.

Pre PIE, your choices were cellular preferred, Wi-Fi preferred, or Wi-Fi only. The last option meant that you could never have international roaming if you wandered away from Wi-Fi connectivity (no calls either it must be said!)

Yup exactly you sumed it up perfect.  T-Mobile won’t do anything for the customer and continue to sell moto junk.   This is my last straw with moto and I’m hanging by a thread with T-Mobile.   My wife has been ready to jump ship for months.  T-Mobile has been so busy trying to grow that they forgot their customers.

Not receiving verification texts

This is SO frustrating. I have a Simple Choice prepaid plan and I am not receiving any short code/verification texts from ANYONE other than T-Mobile: no Uber, no Lyft, no Google etc. This is particularly irritating as I'm travelling in the USA for work - right now I'm stuck at my Airbnb because I can't catch Uber anywhere. What the hell, T-Mobile!

Hi,

I downloaded the T-Mobile app but the menu with the options "Home", "Account", "Bill", Shop", and "More" at the bottom of the screen doesn't work.
When I tap on those buttons, nothing happens. Your app doesn't work correctly. I'm using a Moto G5.

Good Luck in finding the right phone and I'm not trolling . I've has HTC's, Moto's, Samsung's, LG's and Google phones and they all had their flaws.

Moto's we're good until Lenovo  took the over then everything went downhill.

HTC, Samsung and LG's all lagged behind in updates and not being supported but Samsung was the better of the 3.

My Google Nexus was nice but they pushed one too many OS updates and turned it into a rebooting machine.

I have an LG V30 that still hasn't been updated to Pie but I'm not holding my breath that it will be and my next phone will probably be an unlocked

OnePlus.

Looks like the only Z2 Force getting Pie is the Verizon version.

https://www.tmonews.com/2019/06/t-mobile-moto-z2-force-no-android-pie-update/

Motorola has confirmed that “some US Moto Z2 Force models will not receive the Android 9 ‘Pie’ update.” The company explains that the Verizon model of the Moto Z2 Force will get updated to Pie to enable the 5G Moto Mod, but it doesn’t commit to updating the other models of the Z2 Force, meaning the T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint versions will go Pie-less.
